Minuteflag- S/T/ Henry Rollins- Hot Animal Machine/Drive By Shooting

Finally.

It's been too fucking long since I updated last. Thankfully, I found something I've been searching for, and it kicked my ass back into gear to write up another post.

This post has MP3s of three pretty rare albums. The first is the legendary "Minuteflag" experiment. Long story short, members of The Minutemen and Black Flag decided to form a one-off supergroup in the mid-'80s shortly before the death of D. Boon. The end result was something that sounds essentially like The Minutemen featuring Greg Ginn. Very jammy, and mostly instrumental, but still very cool.

If you're like me, though, the short supply of Henry Rollins on this thing is very disheartening. So, I included the two EPs released between Black Flag and Rollins Band, "Drive By Shooting" (Released as Henrietta Collins and the Wifebeating Childhaters) and "Hot Animal Machine". The two serve as the logical steps between Rollins' time in Black Flag and Rollins Band, and showcase his first work with Chris Haskett, who would become a staple of Henry's future group. Great shit, and absolute must-haves for Rollins fanatics.

  4. Have not heard this for years and years, decades in fact and yet a sign of a good record(s) is the fact I know every single word - I pretty much wore the vinyl out at the time, but hell, these two releases were an essential part of my "youth".

Living near Leeds at the time here in the UK, I was fortunate to see the very first incarnation of the Rollins Band a few times as well as his odd spoken word performances (I was just getting into Bukowski at the time so they are strangely linked in my head!).

I can't thank you enough for sharing these - for some reason, the lyrics for the Queen "cover" I Have Come To Kill You, rose from the deep regions of my brain after having laid dormant for so long... and here I am, just about to order the CD!
